Continuing Education and Workforce Development Financial Aid

Alvin Community College, Continuing Education Workforce Development, CEWD offers financial assistance for vocational training programs and courses to students who meet specific criteria.


Texas Public Education Grants (TPEG)
State legislation has made grant funds available to students with financial need for workforce and career training classes.  Limited funds are available for persons who qualify through the ACC Financial Aid Office, to assist with payment of tuition for vocational courses. These limited funds are distributed on a first come, first served basis for qualified applicants. Books are not included. This grant does not require repayment and is applicable for courses with tuition over $1000.

The following CEWD programs are available for TPEG assistance
      • Aesthetic Laser Tech
      • CDL Truck Driving
      • Clinical Medical Assistant
      • Dental Assistant
      • Massage Therapy
      • Medical Office Professional
      • Non-Certified Radiology Tech
      • Veterinary Assistant
      • Welding (420 hour program)

Steps for applying:

  1. Follow instructions on the TPEG application to assist in getting ones income tax transcript:TPEG Application.pdf
  2. Pick up a CEWD course Authorization form available in H103, in the CEWD main office.
  3. Take all paperwork to the financial aid office located inside the A building, Enrollment Service Center to get approved for TPEG assistance.
  4. Register in H103, CEWD main office.
Students who qualify (authorization form required) and choose CEWD Workforce Training programs with tuition between:
     • $1001-$2999 receive 25% of the tuition
     • $3000 and up receive 50% of the tuition  


Institutional Scholarship
This scholarship is for graduates of the GED program. Scholarship will cover ½ of tuition (Awards based on availability of funds).

VA Funding
CDL-Truck Driving, Dental Assistant and Welding programs are approved for Chapter 33, Chapter 30, Chapter 1606, Chapter 1607, Chapter 35 and Chapter 31 VA funds. Coming soon - CNC / Machining. Workforce Investment Act (WIA)

Currently our CNC/ Machinist and Welding programs are eligible for the WIA scholarship for workforce training through Workforce Solutions. The scholarship is for individuals that qualify based on unemployment, underemployment or financial need. Other restrictions apply. For more information visit the Workforce Solutions website at

Alternative Student Loans

Alternative student loans, also known as private student loans, are specialized college student loans designed to provide supplemental funding to cover costs associated with college. They are typically provided by banks or other institutions and are not federally funded. More information can be found by searching "alternative student loans" online.

CEWD Workforce Training programs do not qualify for Federal Pell Grants and are not 1098-T form eligible.
