Welcome to Alvin Community College’s Counseling, Community Resources and Wellness Page.
Our mission is to provide services within the college environment and community that contribute to the academic success, personal growth and positive social experience for students.   

Emergencies

  • For crisis and emergencies during office hours, call 281-756-3700 (Alvin Community College Campus Police, H132).
  • For life-threatening mental health emergencies, go to the closest emergency room or call 9-1-1.
  • For non life threatening crisis assistance at ACC during business hours, go to the Admissions Office, A100 and ask for an Advisor or Counselor.
Assessment and Care Team (ACT) Referral
  • Are you concerned about a currently enrolled ACC student or community resident on campus? Consider reporting to ACC’s Assessment and Care Team (ACT). The Assessment and Care Team consists of a multi-disciplinary group of ACC employees including counselors, faculty, police, and student services staff. The ACT is committed to providing ACC staff, employees and students with supportive resources through a practical, collaborative, and thoughtful approach to the prevention, identifica­tion, assessment, intervention and holistic management of situations that may be disruptive in a student’s academic progress or to the well-being of campus employees.

Counseling Services at ACC

  • Alvin Community College employs a licensed counseling professional that follows a short-term, solution-focused theory of counseling and generally see students for one to six sessions. The focus of short-term counseling can include issues related to the transition to college, balancing classes, anxiety, relationship/family difficulties, mild depression, financial problems, and personal issues that may impact one’s academic success.
  • Students who need long-term counseling or referrals will be assisted with locating resources in the community. The services offered are intended to assist students in being more successful academically and personally.
  • Referral Form: Students can complete a counseling request referral form 

Office Hours: A counselor is available Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Go to the Admissions Office, A100 or contact a Counselor by calling 281-756-3531 during business hours.

Emergency: For non-life threatening crisis assistance at ACC during business hours, call 281-756-3531 and ask for a Counselor or come to the Admissions Office in A100. If the office is closed, and this is a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

Foster Care and Homeless Liaison for Students at ACC

The Texas Education Agency requires that each institution of higher education appoint a Foster Care Liaison Officer to assist in coordinating educational support services on and off campus and to other relevant information directly to individuals who are currently or were previously placed in foster care. For more information about this service at ACC call 281-756-3534 or 3531.

    ADA Women’s Center provides licensed substance abuse treatment for medically indigent women in Galveston County and Brazoria County along the Texas Gulf Coast.
