International Students

International students are citizens of a country other than the United States who have an F-1 or M-1 visa for educational purposes and who intend to return to their home country upon completion of their educational program.

Academic Year

The academic year is composed of Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

  • The Fall semester is August through December (16 weeks)
  • The Spring semester is January through May (16 weeks)
  • The Summer semester is June through August  (11 weeks & 5 weeks)

The application deadline for international admission for each term is:

  • January 1.......Summer semester
  • April 1.............Fall semester
  • August 1..........Spring semester

Application for Admission

International students seeking admission to ACC should complete the following steps:
Step 1 Complete an application at
Step 2 Pay application fee: A $100 application processing fee can be paid online
Step 3 Submit Transcripts: Students seeking transfer of credit from foreign institutions must have transcripts evaluated by an approved service along with the original official transcript. Proof of high school completion is not required.
Step 4
Provide Proof of English Proficiency: Students who are from an English speaking country or who have earned a high school diploma or college degree in an English speaking country are considered proficient in English. All other students are required to submit either of the following scores (must be within the last two years):
  • Official TOEFL score of 525 (minimum) on the paper based test, and 79 (minimum) on the internet based test.
  • Official IELTS Band score of 6.5 (minimum).
Step 5 Prove Financial Responsibility: Complete the Sponsor Declaration form or the an Affidavit of Support along with bank statements showing an ongoing balance of at least $20,000 over the last 6 months. The sponsor does not have to be a U.S. citizen. However, the sponsor cannot be an F-1 or M-1 visa student.


F-1 International students transferring in from another college should complete a Transfer Form as part of the admission process.

F-1 students may not work off-campus during the first academic year, but may accept on-campus employment for up to 20 hours, subject to certain conditions and restrictions. Speak with your international advisor for more information.
