Alvin Live Series Lineup Announced

A mix of country , classic rock and “The King of Rock and Roll” will dominate this year's lineup of the Alvin Live Summer Concert Series.

The LC Roots will perform the first concert of the series on June 14.  Andy and the Dreamsicles will take the stage on July 12. Elvis tribute singer Jack Sullivan will close out the series on August 9.

“As a committee we really wanted to bring in local performers for the 2018 season,” Communications chair Bill Lewis said.

LC Roots returns to Alvin Live to perform a wide variety of music including classic rock, oldies, country, bluegrass and R&B. They have played at many local venues in the Houston and Galveston area since the late 1970s. Band members are Faron Daigle (guitars and vocals), Preston Demeritt (guitars, banjo, mandolin, steel, vocals), Randy Wills (vocals, bass guitar, bass fiddle), Greg Dick (drums) and Gene Bartkiewicz (piano, accordion, organ, vocals).

“This is a band that has been together for a long time and that artistry shows in all of their songs,” Lewis said. “They play a lot of private shows so the general public doesn’t get many opportunities to enjoy their work.  We are very excited to bring LC Roots back for a second show.”

Andy and the Dreamsicles are a classic rock group based out of Houston. They perform classic tunes from the 1960-70s from groups like Chicago, James Brown, Sam and Dave, Billy Joel, the Beatles as well as country music.

“This is simply a fun band,” Lewis said. “If you like to get up and join the fun on the dance floor, this is going to be a show that you don’t want to miss.  Their playlist is incredible.  They play something that fits every single person.”

Jack Sullivan is an ACC alum and is a local performer who performs as Elvin Presley singing his hits while decked out as “the King.”

“Our August show is going to be spectacular,” Lewis said. “We’re welcoming ‘Elvis’ to the stage for a full night of hits.  Jack Sullivan Jr., a name that is familiar to many people in the Alvin area, brings his Las Vegas show to ACC for one night.   Jack grew up in Alvin, attended Alvin Community College and was a member of the Texas A&M Singing Cadets. We’ll be honoring the King of Rock ‘N Roll, Alvin Live style.”

The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the ACC Foundation. Funds raised from Alvin Live performances are used for ACC Broadcast Communications student training and scholarships.

“We get to combine great musical entertainment in a fundraising environment that helps a lot of students here at the college,” Lewis said. “We’re really looking forward to the 2018 Alvin Live season.”

Since 2011, the ACC Live series has used the studio setting for its productions on 89.7 FM and KACC-TV, Cable Access Channel 16. The studio can seat 65 guests. When it's not used for public and private events, ACC students work in K-219 to gain experience in television and radio broadcasting.

The concert provides fans with an opportunity to experience the music in an intimate setting. After the concert, fans will have the opportunity to take pictures and obtain autographs.

Tickets will be $40 each, $125 for a table of two or $250 a table of four. Refunds are not available.

Doors for all concerts will open at 7 p.m. Appetizers and adult beverages will be provided.
