Are you interested in pursuing a career that develops your artistic and creative abilities? If so, a career in the Arts may be for you. Alvin Community College provides an interactive environment where you can gain experience in painting, sculpture, drawing, design, ceramics, art history and art appreciation.

ACC has a vast array of studios that provide opportunities for hands-on experience in several artistic specialties that include a 5,000 square foot 3-D ceramics studio and spacious and naturally lit 2-D studios. The ACC Art Department also offers a non-credit enrichment program. For more information about the enrichment program please visit the ACC Market Place.

To showcase student art, the ACC Art Department hosts art exhibits in our Fine Arts Gallery that enable students to market and display their work to the public.

Career Opportunities

Art graduates have become book illustrators, medical illustrators, art therapist, fashion artists, cartoonists, animators, police artists, photographers, jewelry makers, graphic designers, art instructors, art directors, film illustrators, sculptors, potters and painters.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for art and design occupations is expected to grow by 4% through 2026. The median annual wage for arts and design occupations was $45,250 in May 2017, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $37,690.

Upon completion of the Art A.A. degree, you will have the opportunity to continue your education at a major university. The degree will allow you to use your A.A. in Art to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a major in Art at a four-year college or university.

*How Much Will the Program Cost?

Approximate costs for the Art A.A. Degree program including tuition and fees are $4,200 for in-district students, $6,960 for students out-of-district, and $9,840 for non-residents. Additional fees for books and supplies vary.
