Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) - A.A.S. Degree/Certificate

Study the Human Brain in the Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) Program

If you are curious about the human brain and desire employment in an Allied Health profession, then a career in Neurodiagnostic Technology might be right for you. ACC’s Neurodiagnostic Technologist program is only one of two accredited degree programs in the entire state of Texas and the only program in the Houston area to offer an Associate’s Degree.

ND technologists record electrical activity arising from the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, somatosensory or motor nerve systems using a variety of techniques and instruments. They provide valuable data that physicians use to diagnose and treat conditions such as neuromuscular disorders, brain tumors, seizure disorders, strokes and degenerative brain disease.

Our small class sizes allow our outstanding faculty to provide personal attention with a curriculum that will prepare you for a rewarding and expanding career field. In addition, you will also receive hands-on training in a clinical lab setting.

93 Percent Positive Placement for Our Graduates

Career Opportunities

The ND Technologist works with patients of all ages in a variety of settings including: hospitals, out-patient clinics, ambulatory services, epilepsy monitoring units, operating rooms and research facilities.

Qualified NDTs are in demand. According to the Neurodiagnostic Society (ASET) salary survey, median income for technologists in their first year after graduation is $40K. This salary can rise with time and experience to $55K+ or higher depending upon position, registries obtained, employer, and location.

Several routes exist for a Technologist to become nationally registered in EEG, Evoked Potentials, Long-Term monitoring, Nerve Conduction Studies, and Intraoperative Neuromonitoring. Learn more online at www.abret.org

What Will I Study?

We offer both an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree as well as an Advanced Technical Certificate. Students from both program options attend class together.

The program can be completed in approximately 16 months (not including prerequisite courses). A new group of students begin every Fall. The majority of technical course work for the program is completed on-campus. The clinical experiences begin every Spring. They are 2-3 days per week at hospitals and Neurodiagnostic Centers in the greater Houston area.

Graduates are prepared for the Registry Exam of American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists.
