Mrs. Metoyer Peterson joined ACC in 1998 and has held several positions as an Academic Advisor, Director of Upward Bound and Director of Advising Services.

Ms. Stiles joined ACC in 1994 and has held two positions as an Academic Advisor and Counselor. She holds certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and held a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

“Being the first college graduate in my family and paying for my own college education has provided me sensitivity to the issues that first generation and non-traditional students may have when they begin or return to college. It is my hope to assist others in their educational pursuits.”

Prior to joining the ACC staff in 2019, Mr. Haduch worked providing disability services, academic advising, and counseling at Navarro College (TX), Collin College (TX), and Moraine Valley Community College (IL). He has over 8 years of experience leading Disability Services for students in the community college setting. Mr. Haduch is also a licensed counselor with a background in crisis counseling, mental health, addiction, and domestic violence. In total, he has more than seventeen years of experience supporting individuals and serving communities through counseling, social work, and higher education.

“My enthusiasm for student development extends from my experience as a student. The life changing pathways that higher education provide are significant to Alvin students but also the back story of my own life. My career has been personally transformed by my own educational journey; for that reason, serving others interested in academics resonates in my heart and soul – I would love to hear your story.”

Ms. Herzog joined the ACC staff in 1994 in the Continuing Education Department and became an Academic Advisor in 2001. Prior to working for ACC, Ms. Herzog worked for the Texas Department of Human and Protective Services in Harris and Brazoria Counties.

“As a first generation college student, I understand the apprehension students experience when enrolling in college the first time. I enjoy helping students understand the enrollment process. Working with Student Veterans is an especially rewarding experience for me. I am thankful for the opportunity to help our students meet their educational goals.”

Prior to joining the ACC staff in 2018, Mrs. Jones worked as an academic advisor and student recruiter for Wharton County Junior College. In addition to advising and assisting international students with admission to ACC, she coordinates the College Day program as well as sponsors the International Student Club.

Ms. Garry joined the ACC staff in 2016 holding the position of an academic advisor. She is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. In addition to academic advising, and career counseling, Ms. Garry works as a foster specialist assisting foster youth with their transition to college.

“I have been involved with foster youth as a court appointed advocate for several years. It is a privilege to help these students navigate their way through the college process. I make sure they receive the resources needed to give them the best chance at being successful in their studies at ACC.”

Mrs. Boston worked in admissions, registration, and counseling with Houston Community College and in admissions at the University of Houston. Dameria provides academic advising for students at ACC's satellite campus located at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in Pearland.

Ms. Jefferson began her career in higher education in 2011. Prior to joining ACC in 2019, Ms. Jefferson worked in Student Services in both Financial Aid and Academic Advising capacity at various colleges and universities. Currently, Ms. Jefferson provides academic advising for students at TDCJ units.

"It is so rewarding to know that I play a valuable role in helping students accomplish an important goal in their life. Every day is different and I look forward to tackling it. My favorite quote is 'Sometimes we have to take a step backwards, in order to move forward.' " With that motto in mind, we can always look for the greater good and never give up.

Holly joined the ACC staff in 2015 as the first Director of Retention and Student Success. Previously, she worked in Student Activities and First Year Experience Programs at Lone Star College and San Jacinto College respectively. Holly provides intervention with students in academic distress, coordinates campus student success programming, and chairs the campus Retention and Student Success Committee. She also manages the campus food pantry and Food for Change scholarship program.

Ms. Kopecky joined ACC in March 2019 as Counselor, Career Coach and Academic Advisor. She holds certifications as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), school counselor and teacher. She worked providing counseling, career coaching, academic advising, program planning and college administration for the TRiO Student Success Program at University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX. She has also worked as a clinical counselor in Angleton, TX for the Brazoria County community and at the University of Texas Medical Branch Student Health Clinic in Galveston, TX.In total, Ms. Kopecky has 10 years of counseling experience and an additional 5 years of educator experience as an elementary music teacher.

“My experience as first generation college student from a low income family with diagnosed disabilities has given me empathy, insight and compassion for college students beginning their journey in discovering their life purpose and reaching their career goals.”

Ms. Martin began her career with Harris County Juvenile Probation and transitioned into Education where she has held positions as a Program Coordinator for Talent Search Trio Program and a regional admissions counselor. Ms. Martin joined the ACC team in 2007 as the Student Activities Coordinator before accepting the position as an academic advisor for Manvel High School. In 2012, Ms. Martin began the new position of Director of Dual Credit Programs.

Christina joined ACC’s technical programs as Tech Prep Coordinator in 2007, helping students bring over high school career technical credit to ACC’s A.A.S. degrees. She has worked as a Marketing Specialist for Continuing Education and in 2013 became the Academic Advisor ACC’s Pearland location. She now is the Dual Credit Academic Advisor for Pearland and Glenda Dawson High Schools.

"I like working in a college environment and meeting people who are interested in learning and bettering their lives. It feels great to be a able to help them get started on such a big life decision."

Gwendolyn joined the ACC staff in August 1989. With strong people skills and a desire to assist others, Gwendolyn's entire professional career has been in higher education. She served as the Budget Coordinator for the JTPA Program and Academic Advisor on the Alvin campus prior to accepting the advisor position at Pearland High School.

Prior to joining ACC in 2018, I worked as a Dual Credit Advisor for the Dallas County Community College District for nine years and prior to that, an Academic Counselor for the University of Phoenix-Dallas campus for four years.

Ms. Silvas started out as a student employee at ACC. She officially joined the ACC team in 2001 as a Registration Specialist while attending UH-Clear Lake. She graduated with a B.S. in Behavioral Science-Sociology in 2006. In 2008 she became a part of the new Admissions Office. In 2012 Ms. Silvas accepted the Dual Credit Advisor position at Manvel High School.

"I love giving Manvel High School students information to get a "jump start" on their college education. Being on campus with them daily, letting them know they can do it, makes it even sweeter!"
