Alvin Community College (ACC) proudly offers one of only two CAAHEP-accredited Neurodiagnostic Technologist programs in the entire state of Texas - and the only Associate Degree program in the Greater Houston area. This unique opportunity sets our students apart in a growing and in-demand field.
Neurodiagnostic Technologists (ND Techs) use advanced technology to monitor and record electrical activity from the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system. Their work is critical in helping physicians diagnose and manage conditions such as epilepsy, stroke, neuromuscular disorders, brain tumors, and degenerative brain diseases.

From 2020 - 2024, 100% of ACC's NDT graduates have gained full or part-time employment in a related field, continued their education, or served in the military.

Career Opportunities
The ND Technologist works with patients of all ages in a variety of settings including: hospitals, out-patient clinics, ambulatory services, epilepsy monitoring units, operating rooms and research facilities.
Several routes exist for a Technologist to become nationally registered in EEG, Evoked Potentials, Long-Term monitoring, Nerve Conduction Studies, and Intraoperative Neuromonitoring. Learn more online at www.abret.org

Career Data
What Will I Study?
We offer both an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree as well as an Advanced Technical Certificate. Students from both program options attend class together.
The program can be completed in approximately 16 months (not including prerequisite courses). A new group of students begins every Fall. The majority of technical course work for the program is completed on campus. The clinical experiences begin every Spring. They are 2-3 days per week at hospitals and Neurodiagnostic Centers in the greater Houston area.
Graduates are prepared for the Registry Exam of American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists.
Curriculum Guide - Neurodiagnostic Technology, A.A.S/ Certificate
The Neurodiagnostic Technology A.A.S. Degree program costs approximately $5304.00 for in-district students and $8364.00 for those out of district. This includes tuition, and fees for Neurodiagnostic Technology courses. Additional fees for textbooks, supplies, uniforms, testing, vaccinations, insurance, and graduation are approximately $2000.00.
Costs for the Advanced Technical Certificate in Neurodiagnostic Technology are $3600.00 for in-district students and $5487.00 for those out of district. This includes tuition and fees for Neurodiagnostic Technology courses. Additional fees for textbooks, supplies, uniforms, testing, vaccinations, insurance, and graduation are approximately $2000.00.
The cost of the ABRET National Boards (American Board of Registry of Electroencephalography and Evoked Potential Technologists) R. EEG T. is $700.
