ACC Nursing Innovation Grant

The Alvin Community College Nursing program was recently awarded a grant drive innovation in the Nursing field.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board issued the college a $999,500 grant from the Nursing Innovation Grant Program. The grants were established to provide support for innovative Nursing education programs.

The grant program seeks to increase clinical site and preceptors, develop Nursing education pathways and develop stackable credentials from Certified Nurse Aid programs to Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree programs.

“This is a game-changer for ACC, our students, and our region,” said Dr. Stacy Ebert, vice president of Workforce and Strategic Initiatives. “With this funding, we’ll be able to expand access to high-quality clinical experiences and strengthen the educational pathway from entry-level nursing to advanced degrees.”

The ACC Nursing program will use the funding to increase the number of clinical sites and preceptors by building relationships with hospitals and healthcare facilities. The project will also focus on improving the process for students to transition from the Certified Nurse Aid program to a Licensed Vocational Nurse, then to the Associate Degree in Nursing program and finish with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing.

“It’s an investment not just in our Nursing program, but in the health and well-being of our entire community,” Ebert said. “We are proud to lead the way in preparing the next generation of compassionate, skilled healthcare professionals.”

ACC has one of the top Nursing programs in the state. The Vocational Nursing program has posted a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX licensure exam for 13 years in a row. The Associate Degree Nursing program has maintained pass rates higher than the state and national averages.
