Elevate 2030 - The Future is in Motion

For more than 75 years, Alvin College has focused on one mission: helping students build better futures.
Now, the college is preparing for the next chapter with an ambitious long-range vision designed to expand opportunities, modernize facilities and strengthen its impact across the region.
The initiative, called Elevate 2030, serves as the college’s strategic framework for the remainder of the decade. Built from strategic planning efforts and facilities assessments, the plan outlines how Alvin College intends to grow alongside the rapidly evolving needs of students, employers and surrounding communities.
The initiative comes at a critical time as population growth, workforce demands and student expectations continue to evolve across the region.
“This is about preparing Alvin College for the future while staying true to who we are,” Alvin College President Dr. Robert Exley said. “Our mission has always centered on student success and workforce development. Elevate 2030 gives us a roadmap to expand opportunities, modernize our campuses and continue serving our communities at the highest level.”
The initiative focuses on strengthening student momentum through expanded flexible learning options, additional support services and stronger workforce partnerships. College leaders also plan to continue developing short-term credentials and new academic programs aligned with regional industry needs.
At the same time, Alvin College is continuing efforts to modernize campus facilities to better serve students and the community. In 2025, the Board of Regents approved a $35 million Maintenance Tax Note to strengthen and modernize facilities across campus. Planned improvements include upgraded infrastructure, expanded workforce training areas, improved technology and more collaborative student spaces designed to support learning and engagement.
Regional growth is another major component of the initiative. As the population across the service area continues to grow, Alvin College plans to expand educational access through outreach efforts, online learning opportunities and continued development at Alvin College West.
One of the most visible changes connected to the initiative is the transition from Alvin Community College (ACC) to Alvin College. The updated name reflects the college's broader academic mission and continued growth following the launch of its first bachelor’s degree program.
“The new name reflects where the college is headed while honoring the foundation built by generations of students, employees and community supporters,” Exley said. “We are still the same institution at heart. We are simply evolving to meet the demands of tomorrow.”
Board Chair Bel Sanchez said Elevate 2030 demonstrates the college’s commitment to both innovation and stewardship.
“Elevate 2030 represents our commitment to creating opportunities for students while strengthening the college’s role throughout the region,” Sanchez said. “We want Alvin College to remain accessible, affordable and responsive to workforce and community needs for years to come.”
A key goal of Elevate 2030 is for Alvin College to serve more than 8,000 students annually by the end of the decade through expanded programs, modernized facilities and increased regional access.
Elevate 2030 is more than a long-term vision. With expanded programs, facility investments and continued regional growth already taking shape, the next chapter for Alvin College is already underway.
