Student Accessibility Services (SAS)
The Student Accessibility Services mission is to promote participation and independence in all college programs and activities by providing reasonable accommodations, educational counseling, and mentoring to all students who have a documented disability or demonstrate academic need.
Help us Be ADA Aware
Have a question about accessibility, a suggestion, or need to report a concern (Is there an automatic door not working properly?)
Please contact us: SAS@alvincollege.edu
- New students should be admitted to Alvin Community College prior to submitting a request for services.
- It is the responsibility of the student to initiate the accommodation request process by identifying him/herself and sharing his/her disability related needs with the Student Accessibility Services staff.
New students should request accommodations with the Student Accessibility Services Office at least 2-3 weeks prior to your first semester. Students requesting services must provide current and comprehensive documentation from a qualified professional. The documentation must verify the disability and its impact on a student's academic performance or functional limitations (see Documentation Guidelines on the left). Dual enrollment students follow the same procedures and guidelines as other college students.
- Students must submit a request for accommodations each semester.
Continuing or returning students requesting academic accommodations from the Student Accessibility Services Office should request accommodations each semester, at least 2 weeks before the start of the semester to receive an updated accommodation letter (4 weeks when adaptive equipment or interpreter services are needed). Failure to do so could result in delay or suspension of services.
If you have questions about accessibility, need accommodations for admissions to ACC, or require special accommodations for a campus event please contact the Student Accessibility Services at 281-756-5701 or email SAS@alvincollege.edu, at least 7 business days prior. Requests made less than 7-10 business days prior may not be accommodated.
