Alvin Community College regents unanimously approved a construction package that would update the campus' facilities during their meeting on May 27. The $1.8 million project with Kudela and Weinheimer Landscape Architects and Corestone Construction Services will include changes to landscaping, sidewalks, lighting, fencing, facility entrances and more.
As the nation and the region struggled to deal with the changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Alvin Community College student Eberechi Onye-Franklin jumped at the opportunity to help the college prevent the spread of the disease. For all of her efforts and hard work, Onye-Franklin was named the 2021 President's Award winner. President Dr. Christal M. Albrecht made the announcement during the virtual Awards Day ceremony released in April.
More than 300 Alvin Community College students participated in a survey on higher education commitment to equity and inclusion. The National Assessment of Collegiate Campus Climates was recently administered to the ACC campus and approximately 350 student chose to participate. Those who participated were placed in a drawing for prizes.
